Salt and Light: Living as a Witness to The World

By February 18, 2026No Comments

Salt makes everything better—and Jesus knew that. In this message from the Sermon on the Mount, we’re reminded that as followers of Christ, we’re called to be both salt and light in the world. Salt preserves what’s good, adds flavor, and represents wisdom. When we live distinct, joy-filled, grace-seasoned lives, we keep God’s influence present in a culture drifting away from Him. But when salt loses its saltiness, it loses its purpose.

Jesus also calls us the light of the world. Light breaks through darkness, shows the way, and makes God visible. We don’t shine to draw attention to ourselves, but so others might see our good deeds and glorify God. It’s not our light—it’s Jesus shining through us. When we live the Jesus way, people are drawn out of darkness and into life.
