He’s Sill in The Boat – Have you ever felt like you needed to keep your distance from God because of something you’ve done?
In Luke 5, Peter experiences an incredible miracle. After catching more fish than he can possibly handle, he suddenly realizes who is standing in his boat. His response is surprising: “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
Peter sees his own brokenness and assumes the best thing he can do is get away from Jesus.
But Jesus doesn’t go anywhere.
He’s still in the boat.
Jesus already knows everything about Peter—his failures, doubts, fears and sin—and instead of walking away, Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid.” Then He invites Peter to follow Him.
That’s grace.
Maybe you’ve been keeping your distance from God because you’re afraid of what He thinks about you. Here’s the good news: He already knows your whole story, and He still wants you.
You don’t have to clean yourself up first. You don’t have to hide. You don’t have to run.
Peter began that day saying, “Jesus, get away from me.” He ended it leaving everything behind to follow Him.
Maybe today is a good day to stop running and simply say:
“Jesus, I’m going with You.”
